Make poverty history... cheaper drugs now!!

Oh dear. Amazon.co.uk is a dangerous place to wander into with Christmas money. Damn their irresistible box-set sales!

I've spent the past few days in a blur of movie watching/knitting. I watched Dorian Gray, 500 Days of Summer, An Education, Moon, My Favorite Year, and A Film With Me In It. No, there's no pattern there, but my dad's lap quilt is now a metre-square and just might be done by his birthday at the end of January. If my hands don't fall off first.

Also, this:

*bouncy bouncy bouncy* Is it January 10th yet?

Happy Halloween

Last night's party was a big success -- those folks are hardcore with the decorations. (I loved Hands of Blue in the vodka punch.) Even Zombie Beaver was representing. I was really pleased with how my Nina costume turned out (pics here) and I loved that I was recognised. (Yay for indoctrinating all my friends!)

To everybody else celebrating tonight, here's the cutest Halloween trio ever:

I miss these guys -- can't wait for the second series. (And just saw this awful news via [info]randombastery: Do.Not.Want. Come up with your own ideas, Hollywood, and keep your grubby hands off the shows I love!)

Now to wander through some of my tabs here -- I think I've got nearly 100 open. Expect comments of randomness for as long as my whiskey lasts!

A very happy hallow's eve to you all!!

Monday mix

First, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [info]mclachlan!!

Second, HAPPY VICTORIA DAY to all the Canadians on my flist/circle!

Third, for [info]omarandjohnny, did you read about Russell Tovey's new show? And that picture is slightly misleading, don't you think? My heart sped up a bit when I thought "a comedy where Russell and Aidan never leave the bedroom? Hell yeah!"

Fourth, in lieu of writing, I mainlined the latest seasons of The Tudors and Ashes to Ashes this weekend. The first has turned awfully dark and delicious, the latter's surprisingly turned as brilliant as Life On Mars. Now I need some new Gene Genie icons!

Fifth, probably the high point of this weekend is something I can't talk about. Which is totally unfair, but there you go. Still, it's got me giggling and shaking my head even now.

Have a great Monday, everybody!!

And now, good night!

Monday blather

Thank you, client, for scheduling an early morning appointment with me and then not bothering to call. I appreciate that. Really.

At least getting up early is getting me motivated to DO STUFF. My sleep schedule's seriously out of whack. I'm up until dawn, then the animals pounce on me a few hours later, and I'm feeling sleep-deprived and sluggish.

Which has been my excuse all weekend for doing NOTHING but indulging in writing and reading and television.
But today I have Being Human to look forward to, which is turning out to be rather brilliant. And there's that whole "doing stuff" thing too, which so far has involved throwing in some laundry and thinking about diving into my taxes and pondering fic. Haven't gotten much further than that.

At the moment, though, I have to see what the dog wants. He's looking at me with those intent eyes, but it's not dinnertime and he's been out I've already lifted him onto the couch twice and he's jumped off, so that's not it. Why can't you talk, dammit!

Happy Monday, kittens!

p.s. [info]sarcasticchick just found Thomas Jefferson/Alexander Hamilton slash. I boggled for two seconds and then asked for George Washington/Benedict Arnold hatesex. I NEED SLEEP! (She does more, she's been up all night. FEAR US!)

OK, I'm hooked

The Russell Tovey Appreciation Hour was in full swing tonight. I don't think I've been that shaken by an episode of television in ... ever. Just daaaamn.

And on a totally different subject...

This has been around for awhile but I just discovered it (thanks [info]sarcastic_jo!): The Torchwood Stationary Hub. I truly love how much creativity there is out there. Fandom rocks!

A few happier things

I don't know about the rest of you, but my online life hasn't been much of a refuge these days. Between the Open Sores Project (thanks, [info]mirabile_dictu for that wonderful term), Oh John Ringo No, and assorted other idiocy, I've started and then deleted I don't know how many posts over the past few days. I hope that I can actually finish one soon, but I'm trying hard not to just throw out more negativity, which I really can't stomach right now.

In light of that, I would like to bring you some happier news:
