Quite likely the longest post I've ever written

There is way too much to update, and I don’t know where to start – and as it turns out, I know some of my friends don’t even know what is happening or where I am, since I’ve been so sporadic about updating stuff. So maybe I will do this with numbers. Yes, that’s a good idea.

Why my fandom rules!

Apr. 5th, 2010

Let. It. Go.

Vlad's up to his madness tonight -- we've just gotten six very abusive comments from him, and banned three new sockpuppets. He's intent on "outing" me for my bitchiness. (Excuse me for a minute. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!)

Ahem.

He's also threatening to publish the emails I sent him back when RTL changed their security and we asked him if he had the tech savvy to help us get the episodes. He didn't, of course, but gave us a stern lecture on how he wished he'd known we were meeting with RTL so he could have coached us on what to say, and that Dennis and Igor were surely involved in this plot to entrap us. I smacked him down for his patronising shit and talking down to us like we were 14-year-old fangirls, it's true, and I'd do it again in a minute, and I don't mind one bit if those emails go public because he was a fuckwit.

I'm too old for this shit.

Nonetheless. His behaviour has gone past trollish, and as much as I do love you guys for standing up for us, there's a very important rule I think we need to follow at this point: DON'T FEED THE TROLL. There's absolutely no point in engaging with him -- just ignore, we'll delete and ban, rinse and repeat.

(Also we deleted that whole thread of comments on 894. There was some good stuff there, really, but the whole thing was just making Aldi and me ill to look at it. I hope you'll understand.)

In much sparklier news, go have a peek at Dennis' IMDb page.

Also...

I am highly amused by this picture:

A Bubble of Love: GOOL Trip Report

I'M BACK!!

The weekend was fabulous, excruciating, brilliant, and exhausting. I wouldn't trade a minute of it. Okay, that's a lie, if you read my trip report you'll see quite a few minutes I'd trade. But even so, I cannot imagine a more incredible time!

My icon has never been more appropriate

Like [info]aldiara says, I don't know whether to laugh or cry that this is even an issue.

In other news, on this day was born my favourite gay (not) skater. Happy birthday, DG!

Feb. 21st, 2010

Is it easter yet? *bounce* Also, activist hats

I know Steven Moffat's already married, but I wonder if he needs another wife... or maybe a love slave... even just a slave...?

In more serious news, Dennis asked us to use our powers for good and spread the word about what's happening in Uganda. [personal profile] aldiara made a fantastic post urging people to speak out against the fuckwittage. I never know how useful petitions are, but hopefully the increased awareness will do some good.

Glitter and handcuffs and fairy dust, oh my!

All my love for these guys? It has reached new heights of insanity with the utter fabulousness that is this video.

Also, apparently the way I say "Verbotene Liebe" sounds like "Forbidden Liver." *mad cackles*

Gays of Our Lives International Event

Sorry, I know I've been spamming with the youtube vids lately, but this one's kinda special.

If you're at all interested in those gay soaps, you really must come to New York for the Gays of Our Lives International Event. And you'll get to meet this clearly insane lovely man...

Reason #1937 that I love my soap

I'd hoped to do more for BBTP, but this completely waylaid me. Completely. No, not safe for work. At all.

Some random things

Oh, love:

Anthony Head: It has to be said also - can I just add that the rapport between Colin and Bradley, Bradley James who plays Arthur offset as well as onset leaves us all very confused. But they are - they are very funny on screen.

(From Movieweb interview with Colin and Tony.)

To celebrate 1000 subscribers to EskimoKissProject, we decided to do a spoof vid with our own subs. Of course by the time we finished we had more like 1136 subscribers, but whatever. I'm still so enamoured by what we're doing here. I've never been this involved in fandom at this level before and it's time-consuming and exhausting and crazy-making, and at the same time it's one of the most fabulous experiences I've ever been privileged to be a part of. And I have never worked with anyone like [info] - personalshellydkitty and [info] - personalaldiara, who dedicate themselves to this every single day without fail, and who are incredibly supportive and loving -- I really don't have words to describe how much I respect and adore them.

Other happy things -- I had so many heavy things I needed to buy that I splurged and had my groceries delivered today. What luxury! I will still go to the market for my fresh veg, but 3 bags of cat liter? 20kg of rice? Canned beans and tomatoes? Yeah, someone else can have a heart attack bringing that up the stairs, ta very much!

Tonight I'm listening to Neil Gaiman read The Graveyard Book (again). I'm not normally a fan of audiobooks--words go in one ear and out the other--but there's something about Gaiman's inflection and alliteration that just reels me in, especially in this tale. If you haven't heard it, you can listen to the first chapter here. But warning: You will want more!

Day, Um, 3 of Happiness

OK, so I fail at this daily posting thing. I am reinterpreting this meme to mean I must post 8 concurrent days of happiness, not necessarily consecutive. Yes.

Happy things today!!!

A new icon! From [info]sdk, who is graciously allowing me to use it until Dennis Grabosch gets a journal. Then I have to give it back.

A video I made! Yes! Me! A vidder! I've had this song in mind for a Roman vid for ages, but I had to wait until we got to this part of the (dreadful) breakup to get the clips.

A huge storm front that just rolled in and dropped our temps from 27 to about 15 within five minutes. Right as I was complaining about the heat and stripping off. I's got magick!

Dollhouse which I'm falling more in love with each week.

Chateau de Pierrefonds 3D model. Please somebody tell me I don't need this!

A weekend of no work that I can spend with my beloved Eskimo Kiss girls and poke at the Big Bang. Which is moving along slowly but surely.

Have a fantatic weekend, my lovelies!

This is my brain ATM

Time for a disjointed post, facilitated through interpretative dance. Um, I mean bulletpoints. Divided into thematic divisions, of course, because I desperately need to control some part of my life.

Merlin )
AWZ )
Other )

There were other bits and bobs I wanted to include in random post of randomness but the sticky notes have fallen off my brain and gotten lost in the clutter of obscure trivia and strings of miscellaneous foreign words. Gone forever.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekends!

OMG people!! I am full of inordinate amounts of squeeee about my show today!!!!

Waking up to Sunday

I pulled an all-nighter last night--it's been a while since I've done that. I really love dawn when I don't have to get up for it. The birds start singing just before daybreak, and the sky was the colour of a cornflower crayola when I finally stumbled off to bed in that delicious fuzzy haze.

Unfortunately that meant I totally overslept my Slashers' brunch. :( But it also means that I can/will write today. :) The muses are bouncing in my head and very happy about this.

BTW, did you ever notice that Dennis Grabosch's profile is different, depending on which side you're looking from? One side is pointy, the other is smooth. *ponders at length*

Huh. Jeremy Northam did an audiobook of Brideshead Resivited? You know, I'm really not a fan of audiobooks or podfics--my mind just doesn't process verbally. I remember a project in my college interpersonal communication class where we measured cognitive communication competence--basically how much of a message gets through when two people communicate. My ability to recall the message was near-perfect on the written measures and almost nil on the oral side. If I read something, I'll remember it nearly forever, but apparently sound goes into my ear and gets lost somewhere before it reaches the part of my brain that retains knowledge. (Music lyrics make it through somehow...funny that.)

That being said, I do think I could listen to Jeremy Northam talk for hours on end about Charles and Sebastian's naughtiness.

OK, I'm going to race out for my quick walk before the sky opens up. My cornflower sky's gone menacing all of a sudden.

Television fun and the ongoing battle with shoes

Has anybody been watching My Own Worst Enemy? Its premise is so illogical that it could be unravelled by my 18-month-old nephew, but Christian Slater is just so damn entertaining to watch! He was always a favourite in those teen movies, and this Jekyll-like role is perfect for him. And thank goodness I wasn't the only one who was wondering.

Speaking of logic being shredded in a cheese grater, Alles Was Zaehlt might have gone to hell in a handbasket, but just when my attention threatened to disappear they have Ingo and Roman just hanging out in their Unterhose. As you would. Featuring a close-up of little-Roman at 0:37. *cackles*

[info]omarandjohnny, did you see that SwissLady posted the subtitled interview with Dennis Grabosch talking about his own experience with gay bashing?

With no attempt at a segue whatsoever, I'm starting Year 3 of trying to break in the cruel shoes. I've had them stretched out twice and they're still rubbing my heels raw, although it seems that with this last stretch they're a little less painful. In the past, I gave up because I had my Clark's boots to fall back on. I'm still wearing them, but the soles are now full of holes (got my socks soaked the other day), and the shoe repair place tells me they're beyond help. So that means I either need to buy a new pair of boots for winter (these are tempting me) or build up the calluses on my heels.

So anyway, I did wear them today to the store, just 1.5 km total, and not only was I walking funny on the way back but now I can't move my foot into a right angle because it hurts too much.

But I got stuff to make the tastiest chicken & spuds curry tonight, and I'm very impressed with myself (even if it did come out of a jar).

And tomorrow I'm popping band-aids on and wearing them again, dammit. They shall not defeat me!

p.s. You've probably seen this on the OTW list, but just in case: Add an Amazon widget, support the OTW. Spiffy, eh?

Blurry eyes, blurry mind

Ugh. Still sick, and my head's so stuffy I can hardly think, so the reading/commenting/writing I wanted to do today didn't happen. I did find a few interesting things I wanted to share tho:

Porn Festival -- for women, by women: If the old synapses were firing I'd have something intelligent to say about the female gaze and women empowered to create/consume their own erotic desire. But since they're not, all I'll say is "YaY!" and "about time" and "hell will freeze over before this makes it to Ottawa."

[info]sweetsorcery, I thought of you when I heard about The Priests, "...three full-time clergymen from Belfast whose roles tending to the spiritual needs of their parishioners will now run parallel to the lives of jet-set singing stars. Released for Christmas, the Priests' album is expected to make them household names."

I think this will be my next big DIY project. It doesn't look that hard, does it? I think not. Of course, that could be the drugs talking. I'm on the good stuff tonight: Neo-citrin with a scoop of honey and a healthy splash of rye. I'll be seeing stars soon.

But first, a few more notes. [info]sdk, did you see the LOM remake yet? Can we start bitching now? WTF was that at the end with the kid and the gun?!!!

And [info]omarandjohnny is so good to me. *cuddles her* She made me more AWZ icons (this one is Roman aghast at my runny nose). Yes, I am so flipping addicted it's not funny. I even poked at their message board a bit, which was a weird experience -- I haven't been on any of those since the old Library of Moria days.

But I can tell you that if I'd had this to inspire me in high school German, I'd have paid a hell of a lot more attention. ETA: Now AWZ is crossed with John Barrowman? I am such a goner.

I know there's something else I was supposed to write, but my hot toddy's kicking in and the screen's blurring so it's time for bed. Hope you all have a wonderful night!
