Morning blues

It's just gone six in the morning. I've been up for an hour. I woke up from a vividly awful dream in which AWZ had cast a faux-Marc who wouldn't even fool soap viewers. Then I indulged in lovely, soul-strengthening comments on our blog from people who believe in us. Now a man is singing drunkenly in the street outside. And something we all love ended today.

In some parts of the world it's St. Patrick's day. Here it's just a very interesting start to Friday.

ETA: A start? Screw that. I'm going back to bed.

The Dream Fairy really screwed up last night

I dreamt I was at a theatre (somewhere like TIFF, I reckon, because people were talking to each other before the film) and Jared and Jensen came and sat in the seats right beside me. And they were talking about me, and I was ignoring them (because hello! It's not like it was Bradley and Colin or something), and then the Dean one left and the Sam one looked over at me and said something that sounded like "Gwen Cooper." And I said something that sounded like "huh?" And he said, "You have the same skin tones as Gwen Cooper." And I was like, "Yeah, well, you do know she's not a real person...." And then he said they'd been talking about me because they wanted me for a role in an episode. Suddenly my dream self remembered I was an actor myself, and I said, "Sure, I don't watch your show, but have your people call my people..." He looked hurt at that, so I ruffled his fluffy hair (he's the one with fluffy hair, right? also, what is it with me touching actors' hair in my dreams anyway?) and said I heard they had fun on set and I'd like to do it. And he looked placated. And then the film started, and he left to follow the Dean one out, and I got to enjoy the movie in peace.

So it seems the Dream Fairy got really lost last night -- J2 is completely wasted on me. Any SPN fans out there who got a confusing dream about boys in chain mail and men's pair skating?

Midday ramble

I just did my interview! And it went really well -- although there *might* have been technical problems, but at least *I* didn't screw up. Too much. Nothing that can't be edited out, anyway, and he said it was really valuable info. So I sigh with relief. Yes, hi, I can ramble for 40 minutes non-stop.

Oh! And I love love love doing Big Bang! Why did no one ever tell me how much fun it was? I always thought it was serious business, everybody banging away on their keyboards in solitude. No! I have Support Group! And we have a Theme Song! And Soundtracks! And it's the best thing ever! Not that I've actually written anything for the past two days, but that's beside the point. (I did dream that I was travelling in Germany with Colin Morgan tho, what's that about?)

I have no time to read fics, and yet two still managed to slip through my ban and knock my socks off:

Endless Midnights by [info]kagedtiger (and how much do I love her LJ handle? THIIIIIIS MUCH!)
Summary: After the events of "Midnight," The Doctor meets with one of the tourists who is not quite what he appears to be. This will totally change how you watch That Episode of Doctor Who. And yes, I *adore* the idea of Merlin living through time in disguise. So. Much. Love.

Pavlov Penis by [info]derryere
Summary: In which Merlin is hot for Arthur's bed, Arthur's hot for the laundry and there's this big fucking heatwave all over the place (?!) I discovered Derryere's writing through the most amazing RPS ever, but here she takes on Merlin/Arthur, and it's one of the most sensual and gorgeous and moody things I've ever read.

Now it's back to work for me. Oh, just to give you an idea where my head is, when I paid rent today I gave my landlord two checks, since I won't be here at the start of the next. He called to let me know that I wrote February on one and March on the other. Yeup, apparently I've lost an entire month. Where did it go???? *looks under couch*

You know you've been spending too much time in fandom when you dream that you've found undeniable canon proof in a script that one of your characters is a definite top, and your dream focuses on how to still make it work with him as a bottom.

This weekend was fun and productive! I've been flying through clips of AWZ, cutting them down for subtitling. Seeing all the crackfed plots that we missed with the super-short clips, we've come up with a new tagline for the Eskimo Kiss Project: "Slogging through the crap so you don't have to!" [info]aldiara is doing a bang-up job of extracting 7-10 minutes of gold from each 25 minute episode, and making them make sense, somehow, without including the stupid. Amazing!!

We had our monthly slashers' brunch yesterday too -- it was a tiny group this time, just five of us. The bus strike is definitely taking its toll! I walked the 3km there and back -- not bad going, but in the sleet coming back a shell of hard ice formed all around my coat. I was toasty warm inside, but a bit shocked when I got home!

But it was still fun to hang out for hours and gab with the girls. And I might possibly have enticed [info]paraka to travel with me!!!! That would be so cool!! Speaking of, my dear, I am going to have to put my itinerary together to send you later today. It's a mass of scribbles right now and makes no sense to me, much less anybody else. But it's on its way!!

[info]paraka is also being a Superstar and putting together an intro/credit video for our youtube channel. I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

And that brings us full circle on my life. Pretty smooth for a Monday, eh? *has another cup of coffee*

Help enable me!

So I already bought my flight for London, two weeks at the end of March. And then I started thinking that, since the price of the flight over is really the most expensive part of the trip, why don't I extend my visit by another two weeks or so and visit some of the places I really want to go in Europe. I'm sadly untravelled in Europe. I was a poor student during my years in Ireland, so my longest trips were to Scotland and England, although I spent plenty of time exploring Ireland itself. Then there were two weeks in Russia and three weeks in Spain, but beyond that, nothing.

So I'm thinking, why not? Really, why the hell not? My friend is already planning a trip for us to Paris. I'm thinking a train from there to Milan, then up to Munich, then to Prague, up to Berlin where an old co-worker lives, up to Copenhagen, and then back to Amsterdam and then London. I shudder at how brief my trip would have to be -- I've always preferred spending more time in each place -- but I do think it'd be possible to spend two nights in each spot (or overnight trains, yay) which is more than those whirlwind 14-countries-in-6-days tours.

So tell me, is this crazy? Am I biting off more than I can chew? Are there places on my list that you'd scrap, and others that are must-sees? Since I'll be travelling solo, are there things/places to watch out for? And since I only speak English and a little Spanish, do you think I'll be able to survive in these countries? (Berlin's the place I'm most worried about, but I'm sure I'll be in good hands with Uwe.)

So? Should I do it?

Dream time

I've obviously confused my subconscious. I was dreaming last night that Lucius and Draco were walking together in a village somewhere, and over them came narration a la Michael Weston from Burn Notice: "The trouble with Death Eaters is that they..." with some detailed explanation of what they were doing. And then I was there investigating the fallout from it, only I wasn't Michael Weston; instead I was Sheriff Carter from Eureka, and I distinctly remember having a conversation with Kaylee (or was it Keller? It's so hard to tell).

Oh, and here's some Monday fun via [info]aristoboule:

Isn't it a joy to see a company like Hallmark showing some spine?

It seems the American Family Association (AFA) has up an online form to send Hallmark hate mail for making same sex marriage greeting cards. What a shame it would be if people used it to send Hallmark support mail instead...

You know you want to!

Apparently this is a Very Bad Idea. Sorry!!!

Waking up slow

Last night I had the sexiest, most graphic, most elaborate sex dream I've ever had. The only problem is that for the life of me I can't remember who my partner was. I'm not even completely sure whether it was a man or a woman. Whoever it was, they followed my instructions perfectly after I explained, a la Ianto, that "it's the button on the top."

Since I'm still enjoying the afterglow trying to wake up, I went and did that book meme thing. Read all about it. )

Finally, I meant to post this earlier but got distracted. Thanks so much to [info]muppet who sent it to me and brightened my day!! Sam and Gene, looking dapper. )

A few happier things

I don't know about the rest of you, but my online life hasn't been much of a refuge these days. Between the Open Sores Project (thanks, [info]mirabile_dictu for that wonderful term), Oh John Ringo No, and assorted other idiocy, I've started and then deleted I don't know how many posts over the past few days. I hope that I can actually finish one soon, but I'm trying hard not to just throw out more negativity, which I really can't stomach right now.

In light of that, I would like to bring you some happier news:

I just had the best dream: John Simm kept kissing me, over and over, all night long. And he was a really good kisser.

Why did I have to wake up today?!!
